Visit to preschools organised for foreign guest

 In Mumbai Smiles

A visit to Mumbai is a must for many foreigners visiting India, whether for tourism or for work purposes. Over the years, Mumbai Smiles has attracted a lot of foreign visitors who are in Mumbai and wish to see how this organisation is creating change in Mumbai’s slums. These visits often serve as eye-openers for these guests and motivate them to become more involved with social work in the city in any way they can.

On 25 October 2018, we organised a day-long visit to our preschools at Govandi and Powai for our guest, Laura. She had come to Mumbai on a work trip, but she was very interested to see how we are working with the underprivileged community here. Laura was deeply impressed by the work that our teachers, field coordinators and other stakeholders are putting in. She also interacted with the children and their parents who live in the slums nearby. Although she was shocked to see the cramped conditions in the slums, her interaction with the residents was very positive. Her encouraging feedback motivates us to keep on doing our best. Thanks for your visit, Laura!
