The Awareness department at Mumbai Smiles keeps the vibe and energy in the organisation going, epsecially through organising visits for international citizens. Everyone looks forward to such events since its an opportunity to have fun, take a break from daily routine and interact with people from other parts of the world. This time the efforts of Awareness department were directed towards the LSE project that aims at spreading the message of women empowerment through innovative means. The Awareness department organised Josianne Assignon’s visit, to make LSE spread the message of strength and freedom.

Josianne Assignon, a face painter, is a resident of Canada. She came to know about Mumbai Smiles through Jaume’s book, which she read at the age of 16 years. The book inspired her so much that she in fact raised funds for Mumbai Smiles during her college days and was able to contribute a substantial amount. While she was here, there was a lot of energy at the office and one must say that her work was “WOW”.

She used her artistic skills to paint on the LSE beneficiaries’ faces .Every pattern that she made had an aesthetic appeal and a message to carry. For Eg: A butterfly is a symbol of freedom and an expression for growth. Stepping out of the cocoon, it flies to see the world. Flowers- one should bloom like them and spread happiness. The beneficiaries spread these messages to everyone who saw the painting on their faces.

Josianne shared her thoughts on this entire event as under:

“I enjoyed every minute of my time spent at Mumbai Smiles. The LSE girls were so lively and joyful. I had a great time interacting with them and be a part of the meaningful work through my artistic skills.”

Thank you Josianne for taking out time to visit Mumbai Smiles.
