SEED project in 2013

 In Mumbai Smiles

07 JAN I

As we’ve told you before, the SEED project is the new programme that we launched in 2012 at Mumbai Smiles.

SEED, which is what we call our skills development programme, aims to equip women from low-income backgrounds with tangible, marketable skills that can help them earn a proper livelihood.

in 2012, we did a series of training programmes in beautician skills, retail management, bed-side attendant skills, zardozi embroidery and more. And based on this experience, the women’s feedback and our own learning, we have identified the workshops and the batches that will be conducted in 2013:

* Advanced beauty skills: 135 seats

* Retail management: 60 seats

* Bed-side attendant skills: 30 seats (which will include hands-on training in clinics)

* Call-centre training: 30 seats

* Fast-food preparation: 50 seats

* Handicraft work: 35 seats

* Zardozi work: 45 seats

* Front office/hospitality skills: 30 seats

* Tailoring: 60 seats

There could be some changes in the workshops and the number of seats on offer, but if all goes well, 2013 promises to be a busy and exciting year for the SEED project.

Do spread the word and if you know of any deserving women interested in these workshops, do get in touch with us at seed@mumbaismiles.org
