Beneficiaries writing their exam

The fastest way to change society is to mobilize the women of the world.

– Charles Malik

We resonate with the above philosophy and strongly believe in empowering the women of today. We believe that all women have the potential for growth, provided they have access to information, adequate skills and required resources. Our SEED Project that aims to empower women has reached out to 1285 underprivileged girls and women since its inception in July 2012. For both the Employment and Self Employment based courses, the metrics have been good. The project went international in April 2013 when a consignment of 788 roses was sent to Spain on the occasion of St. Jordi’s Day.

Recently 2 of our SEED Advanced Beautician batches that reached out to 47 beneficiaries got completed. We would like to share the performance report of these batches. To be eligible for the certificate, the beneficiaries had to appear for an exam that was conducted by Suchitra, the trainer for these batches. The course covered all aspects of beauty treatment viz. hair-cut, hair- dressing, face cleanup and body massage etc. These beneficiaries generally have family income in the range of Rs 8,000-10,000 p.m and thus it is a huge support for the family once they start earning. One of our previous batches had 30 beneficiaries and a placement rate of 80%. 6 of the beneficiaries went into employment and 17 into self-employment.

We strongly believe that if everyone does his/her share in empowering women, the society can become free from gender discrimination with equal opportunities available to every citizen.
