As we have shared with you in our previous blogs that Balwadis are closed now and will reopen on 3rd June 2013. For the fresh batches starting this year, survey is in progress for the identification of kids to be enrolled in Balwadis. Each Balwadi has a batch size of 30 and around 700 kids get enrolled each year in 23 Balwadi spread across Marol Pipeline area, Sangharsh Nagar, Powai, Kanjurmarg & Vikhroli. We ensure that a gender balance is maintained at our Balwadis.

This survey is being carried out by Balwadi teachers and assistants. Survey ensures that we reach out to the real needy ones. So we take into account the family income & number of members in a household for the screening of candidates. After the survey is over enrolment process will begin.

Our Balwadis are designed in a way to foster holistic development of a child. Mumbai Smiles propagates the idea of cultivating healthy lifestyle among children and our Balwadis lays the foundation for the slum kids to inculcate those habits in them.

It’s rightly said, “Education is a natural process carried out by the child and is not acquired by listening to words but by experiences in the environment.”

In the pictures below you can see our Balwadi well equipped with modern technologies and teaching learning materials for fun ways of learning.
