Sports are the best way to introduce the importance of exercise and physical activities for children. In our endeavour towards helping underprivileged children thrive in a healthy environment, our Preschool Project team organizes annual sports day events to instil team spirit, encourage healthy competition and help children develop interest in sports and physical activities. This year, 854 beneficiaries, 639 parents and 26 teachers and assistants, across preschools were a part of the Sports Day celebrations from 7th to 9th January, 2019.

The 2-3 hours sports activities were planned area and preschool wise, on open grounds in the vicinity of the slums where children lived. Our tiny tots were grouped into teams and participated in a variety of individual and team sports activities and games – basketball, walk balancing a book, bottle game, rabbit jump, frog Jump etc. Parents cheered for their children and applauded the winners who were felicitated at the end of the event.

Rekha Bansode, a parent was thrilled to see her child taking part in sports and enjoying with peers. A shy child prior to enrolment at the preschool is now confident and plays with the children of her slum. Such success stories, makes Mumbai Smiles Foundation an organization that transforms lives!
