Preschool project conducts refresher training for teachers

When we are young, we are taught to respect our teachers and listen to everything they say. Our education system is as effective or ineffective as the teachers who teach us. They are the ones who translate a curriculum into actual learning. A gifted teacher can change the course of many lives. This is especially true of teachers who teach underprivileged children, some of whom may be the first in their families to ever go to school. This is why it is doubly important to regularly train teachers in our projects so that they understand the deeper significance of the curriculum and are able to achieve the desired learning outcomes.

On 17 November 2018, the Preschool project conducted a refresher training for the teachers of our ten preschools. A total of 26 teachers underwent this training programme. The training covered a comprehensive list of topics that are an important part of preschool learning—preparing a class schedule, mathematical activities, literacy and storytelling, arts at the preschool level, body consciousness, relaxation and yoga, as well as preschool rhymes. These programmes are an important way for us to make sure that our teachers are in tune with our thinking on education as it evolves.
