Paso-Noroeste visits Mumbai Smiles

 In Mumbai Smiles

Every year we look forward to the visit of big groups from Spain during monsoon. It’s summer in Spain, the time for family trips where everyone has their itineraries ready with a list of their dream places to visit and create memories for life.

We were delighted to receive twelve lovely visitors from Spain who preferred to dedicate a part of  their vacation to visiting Mumbai Smile’s and contributing in our peaceful fight against poverty Jon, the group leader of Paso-Noroeste travel agency brought these beautiful people to visit us.  Everyone in the group was eager to understand and learn as much possible about the India culture, a difficult feat considering the limitation of time. They were also interested in meeting and connecting with people and were looking forward to finding answers to the host of questions that had been rattling their minds.

After the presentation delivered by Jaume Sanllorente, General Director – Mumbai Smiles, we visited a tribal area called Sai Bangoda, a beautiful location in the midst of a bustling concrete city surrounded by beautiful greenery. Mumbai Smiles runs one of its pre-schools in this area to help the kids reap the benefits of a formal school education, the foundations for a successful life. The kids at preschool were rather excited to meet our guests. We got lucky to meet Sunita, a mother of one of the students. The group could interact with Sunita understanding her difficult journey and her positive outlook towards the education of her two children studying in Mumbai Smiles Foundation preschools. Her smiling face was expressing her satisfaction.

Later, we also visited other preschools in Powai and in Govandi being run my Mumbai Smiles.  At the preschool in Powai, the group spent time with street children and were able to closely observe the vulnerable conditions in which these people fight to survive and yet know the importance of education.

On completing the two day visit with us all the group members were emotional to leave and some of them expressed their gratitude by donating to our projects.

Thank you Paso-Noroeste and thank you beautiful people for your contribution.

We look forward to meeting you next year.
