Orientation meeting for parents to kick off the 2018-19 Higher Education scholarship programme

 In Mumbai Smiles

For many Indian girls, higher education is a dream that often remains unfulfilled. The Higher Education Project of Mumbai Smiles is striving to make that dream a reality for as many girls as possible. One of the ways in which we empower girls is through our scholarship programme.

Towards this end, a meeting was held with the parents of students at the Savitribai Phule Girls High School and Junior College in Saki Naka, Mumbai, on 2nd August, 2018. The purpose of the meeting was to distribute application forms for the scholarship programme for 2018-19. It was also an important orientation session for the parents to become familiar with the programme and the application process.

The meeting had a total of 38 attendees—the principal of the school, 18 old beneficiaries of the programme, 17 parents, and three field co-ordinators from Mumbai Smiles. The co-ordinators familiarised the parents with the scholarship programme for the coming academic year. The session was also highly interactive; queries from the parents and other attendees were addressed and valuable feedback was taken on how to improve the programme.
