“What is the essence of life? To serve others and to do good.” – Aristotle

On 12th of April, 2014, for the very first time, we undertook an initiative to bring together our volunteers. For this purpose, we organized a one of a kind volunteer meet. 4 of our 15 volunteers – Khushboo, Deep, Vedanta and Swarnava attended the meeting and got an opportunity to know each other and develop a strong and lasting bond of friendship.

During the meeting, the volunteers introduced themselves to each other. It was really inspiring to see our young volunteers coming forward and taking an initiative to discuss their roles with the other members. Our team members present were delighted to hear the experience of these volunteers and the interests that drove them to volunteer with us. Natasha, our Volunteer Coordinator, also elucidated the objective of organising volunteer meetings. The entire conversation among the members present was very fruitful including the feedback that were taken at the end.

Our Executive Director, Mr. Narendra Kumar Dundu, was also present and shared the story of evolution of the Volunteer program of Mumbai Smiles. He threw light on the initiatives undertaken by some of the volunteers in the past. He also gave his suggestions on how to make the volunteer program more efficient and serviceable.

The meeting ended with exchange of thoughts and ideas among the volunteers on how they can lend a helping hand to each other in their assignments and set examples for future.

We thank all our volunteers for their selfless service to Mumbai Smiles. Their efforts are certainly bringing a change in the society. Tom Brokaw has rightly said – “It’s easy to make a buck.  It’s a lot tougher to make a difference.”  and our volunteers are surely doing the tougher job of creating a difference.

We express our gratitude to all our volunteers.
