Girls of Life Skills Empowerment celebrate a different kind of Valentine’s Day

In Awareness, Events, Health, Life Skills Empowerment, Mumbai Smiles, Thank You

The history of Valentine’s day is shrouded in mystery with multiple stories of martyrdom of different saints named Valentine or Valentinus. But the one that is widely accepted is that of a priest in the third century in Rome. Back in that era, it was believed that single men made better soldiers and hence they were forbidden to courtship and defying this logic, St. Valentine got many of such soldiers married in secret, for which he was then imprisoned and executed. Before dying, he wrote a letter to the love of his life, signed “Your Valentine” and since then February 14 (possibly the date of his execution) has been celebrated as Valentine’s Day, a day of love among all couples.

At Mumbai Smiles, the girls of Life Skills Empowerment program thought of celebrating this day in a different manner. With the idea to promote #LoveWithoutDiscrimination, the Girls believe that the idea of love shouldn’t be restricted to just couples or partners, but pure and platonic love is what is needed to be promoted in this world to make it better and happier! Combining this idea with the Mannequin Video Challenge that has been doing the rounds of internet for quite some time now, these girls came up with their own Mannequin Video! Take a look at it below (click on image) on our YouTube channel – Share and Spread the Love among ALL!!

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY TO YOU ALL !!
