Livelihood Roses help raise 7,253 Euros!

In Awareness, Events, Mumbai Smiles, SEED, Thank You, Volunteer

Last month we had posted here about the handmade roses, created by the women of the slum communities, using cloth and other materials for an event called Sant Jordi which is celebrated in Spain each other. Today we are super happy to share with you all the grand success of our initiative in Spain!

In Barcelona, Ibiza, Sabadell and Tarragona, the four different cities of Spain, thanks to the involvement of many volunteers with our Spanish sister organisation, Sonrisas de Bombay (SdB), we had several stands where we offered the handmade roses as well as the books of our founder of our organization, Jaume Sanllorente on the occasion of Sant Jordi.

In this initiative of ours, we were fortunate to have the support of ten different companies that helped us sell the roses and the books and celebrate this day for the cause of girl child education, better health and livelihood of the poor in our city of Mumbai. And together with the efforts of SdB, its many dedicated volunteers and the partner companies, we were able to raise a total of 7,253 Euros! By the end of the day, the demand for the roses was much higher than the supply and we are ecstatic about it!

We want to thank each and everyone for the love they have showered on us and our community citizens, the volunteers and the companies for selflessly helping us achieve this great feat; we promise to work harder and harder with this encouragement and we thank you all for making this possible!

Great job. It is also interesting to know about celebration of World Book Day & St. Jordi’s Day on same occasion.
