Jump2Justice holds awareness sessions on Right to Education

Education is a fundamental factor in creating a just world. This reality was recognised by our lawmakers when they passed the Right to Education Act, making access to free and compulsory education a Fundamental Right for all Indian children between 6-14 years of age. The implementation of this law is a challenge that is being navigated in the country today. It is also a focus of our Jump2Justice project as it ties in beautifully with the overall aims of the project.

For this reason, the Jump2Justice project conducted eight awareness sessions on the Right to Education for our preschool teachers and teaching assistants throughout the month of September 2018. There were a total of 37 attendees at these sessions. A special emphasis was laid on helping the teachers to identify cases where there are human rights violations that stop children from accessing their Right to Education. Since the teachers are the ultimate executors of our projects in the field, such sessions help ensure that they are aware of the larger issues of justice and education as a part of their work.
