International Nurses day

International Nurses Day is observed around the world on May 12th of each year. It is celebrated to mark the contributions that nurses make to society. The International Council of Nurses (ICN) commemorates this day each year with the production and distribution of the International Nurses’ Day Kit, which includes educational and public information materials for use by nurses everywhere.

The IND theme for 2014 is:” Nurses: A Force for Change – A vital resource for health.”

International Council of Nurses celebrates this event to increase the public awareness about nursing and the contribution that nurses make towards health care innovation. Nurses play a very important role in bringing a change in the society. They are the first and the fastest point of contact for health services. They are innovatively practiced to provide free health checkup to people in industries indicating their willingness to improve the health of staffs, to meet all the local needs and to improve the physical, mental and well-being of the patients.

At Mumbai Smiles too, Nurses play a very important role in the HOPE project .Our HOPE Project supports underprivileged kids with cancer by sponsoring their treatment. This support is provided in collaboration with Holy Spirit Hospital in Andheri (E). To acknowledge the untiring and selfless service of Nurses at Holy Spirit Hospital, our HOPE team visited the Hospital on Nurses day to thank the Nurses for their devoted service.

As a small but a meaningful token of gratitude, the HOPE team members also brought with them a card, rose and some chocolates to acknowledge the immense contribution of Nurses in improving the lives of HOPE beneficiaries.
