We had blogged about the strategy meet held with the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) and World Health Organisation (WHO) held last month in order to organization various health camps with their logistical and medical support. And in the series of health camps, recently one was held specifically for pregnant women and infants of a slum community in the northern part of Mumbai called Kanjurmarg.
The camp was started with a general health talk and awareness on prevention of diseases by maintaining good hygiene and eating healthy. The general talk was followed by immunization vaccination to each pregnant woman as well as infants, followed by personal health counseling to ensure continuous nutritious intake for the mothers, infants and the foetus. During this, each beneficiary was given personal attention to their health concerns as well.
The last part of the camp included distribution of dry fruits to the women and children which is very essential, since these community women cannot afford to purchase dry fruits regularly and dry fruits are an absolute essential part of daily diet of pregnant women and young children. The camp was received very positively by the community and we wish to thank WHO and MCGM for their support and coordination, for coming forward to help us reach out to this community and provide them with the necessary vaccination and nutrition.
