Education is the single most important factor in the development of the individual and of the country. It encourages talent and creativity and facilitates innovation thorough ideas and skills. Renowned Nobel Peace Prize recipient Malala Yousafzai said, ‘One child, one teacher, one book and one pen can change the world’ thus bolstering on the importance of education. Education, thus has a vital role in shaping the minds of the people especially of the younger generation.
Our Higher Education and the Girl Child Education projects primarily involve in giving out scholarships to the most deserving students coming from underprivileged families and vulnerable groups. We provide school utility kits and other educational materials along with capacity building sessions for a holistic growth, both educationally and psychologically and also mobilise nutritional supplements for the students.
To encourage education, we at Mumbai Smiles distributed notebooks to two of our partner schools: Ravikiran Vidyalaya School and Vyankatesh Vidyaniketan School in Vikhroli area. This project aimed at helping the underprivileged students with educational materials and also to be updated on the progress of the beneficiaries by obtaining feedback from our partner schools.
The project received a positive response from the students and the school authorities as well. Around 251 Higher Education and Girl Child Education students from Vyankatesh Vidyaniketan School and 150 Higher Education Girl Child Education students from Ravikiran Vidyalaya School were benefitted during this project. Principals of Ravikiran School and Vyankatesh School said, “It is a great help to our primary students by providing the notebooks which will help students and their parents who working on daily wages. Thank You to Mumbai Smiles Foundation to this wonderful support to our schools.” We want to give special thanks to Courtyard Marriott Hotel for partnering with us to mobilise books for the needy students.
