Foreign visitors meet our community members

 In Mumbai Smiles

We love having people visit the Mumbai Smiles projects and the community that we work with. This helps us to spread the word about our work and also helps us to crate a network of like-like-minded people around the world. These people are them eager to do their bit to help our beloved city and its underprivileged communities in any way they can. Thus, the visits create awareness and help make the Mumbai Smiles community expand around the world.

Recently, we organised a visit for two of our foreign guests, Sergio and Ana. Both work as volunteers with different NGOs and were eager to learn about the work we do. We took them to meet two ladies whose children study in our preschools—Savitri from Govandi and Rekha from Powai. Both ladies shared their stories about how Mumbai Smiles is helping their children to start their education. Sergio and Ana were surprised to see the conditions in which these families are living, but they were also charmed by the cheerfulness and optimism for a brighter future that the families share. They also interacted with the other kids in the preschool before concluding their visit with a trip to Savitribai Phule Girls’ School in Saki Naka.

Both Sergio and Ana have encouraged us to continue our effort to make a difference in the slums of Mumbai. We are sure that their visits will stay fresh in their minds for a long time to come!
