In continuation with the Fire Safety training, First Aid training was recently conducted for all our 27 teachers and their 27 assistants. In collaboration with another organization called Faith, the first aid training was conducted by Sujeet Sathe and Nilesh Gadre, both of whom have almost decade of experience in the field of safety & rescue training, in line with the approved practices by Directorate of Industrial Safety & Health (Maharashtra Government).
The training included the understanding of different possible emergency situations, such as leakage of poisonous gases/toxic chemicals, electrocution of an individual or a group, drowning, road accidents, animal attacks/bites etc. As different situations need to be handled in different manner, the various situations were first analyzed individually, followed by the understanding of the general anatomy and how first aid is to be carried out in each of these situations. This included practical demonstration of CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation), bandages & slings for wounds & fractures by using available materials, emergency transport using two-three-four sets of hands to make a human stretcher etc.
This training was very essential to be conducted since the teachers, who are also the citizens of the very same communities where the preschool centres are situated, they can help with untoward incidents and accidents in and around their communities as well so that by the time the ambulances or other help arrives, the situation can be brought under some control, as much as humanly possible. And so the training was received very positively by all the teachers.
