Education Fair at Partner School

To develop interest of students in the stream of science, an Education Fair had been set up at one of our partner school, Savitribai Phule Girls High School which included our beneficiaries from Future Smiles and Girl Child Education Projects.

The Fair had 6 stalls set up with relevance to science-

1- Solar Cooker- This stall was set up to make the students understand the solar energy, its uses and how it is created.

2- Magnate- One of our Future Smiles Project beneficiary, Mr. Saim Shaikh, an engineering student put up a presentation on magnates; its importance, use and benefits.

3- Geographical Globe- This was kept in order to encourage students to learn more about States, places etc.

4- Human Skeleton- To know the names and location of each body part.

5- Human and Anatomical Parts- This was to make them aware of the human anatomy.

6- Specimen of Species- Specimens displayed for showing purpose.

Apart from these stalls there were also various competitions organised-

1- Quiz Competition- There was 6 teams and each team had 2 questions per round. Team of Future Smiles Project & Ms. Geeta from Samta Vidya Mandir made the questions according to student’s grade and knowledge.

2- Essay Writing- For this the topic was ‘I am a Dustbin’.

3- Drawing Competition- The theme was  ‘Science and Nature’.

This Educational Fair is way of involving the students in education using innovative ideas. They had a great time and learned a lot through this. Here’s what one of the teacher had to say-

Ms. Renuka Subhedar, “I would like to appreciate the work of Mumbai Smiles & Education Project to support in supporting our students education through scholarship. It was a great opportunity for our children to take part in education fair. Every year Mumbai Smiles takes initiatives for schools and conducts different activities. Our students comes from very poor and underprivileged background. Mumbai smiles addresses these students and helps them by giving scholarships, school kits, capacity building sessions & Health camps.”
