Nutrition (also called nourishment) is the provision, to humans and also other organisms, of the materials necessary (in the form of food) to support life. Many common health problems can be prevented or alleviated with a healthy diet. Keeping this in mind our Hope project team; a project focused on pediatric cancer patients held a nutritional talk for its beneficiaries to make them aware of the benefits of adopting healthy eating habits.
Today a session on “Nutrition” was held for the Hope beneficiaries. Around 10 indirect beneficiaries from the project attended this session. It was focused on advantages of having nutritious food followed by information on food items rich in Carbohydrates, Fats, Vitamins, Proteins and Minerals. Beneficiaries who were mainly women took keen interest in it. During the session strong emphasis was laid on making children adopt healthy eating habits. This is possible only when parents are aware of the nutritional aspects of different food items. This session proved to be beneficial in developing a holistic understanding of well balanced diet among beneficiaries in today’s life and how to incorporate the same in day to day basis. Dry fruits and Pediasure, a nutritional supplement was given to all the women who attended it.
Let food be the medicine but make sure vice versa never happens.
In the pictures below you can see dry fruits packets and pediasure being distributed to Hope beneficiaries.
