Children’s Week concluded successfully!
In the last two weeks, we had shared with you all, our dear readers, some details of the Children’s Day and Child Right’s Day that we were celebrating with a week-long chain of events with our tiny tots of the Preschool Education centre, their teachers and SHG (Self Help Group) women who are part of the Mumbai Smiles family as well. And we are now very happy to say that the Children’s Week celebration has successfully concluded, on a very bright and colouful note!
These events were four in number, in different areas of our project field where multiple Preschool centres were clubbed together and a grand event was organised for the centres in the community itself. The aim was not only to celebrate Children’s Day but also Child Rights Day by way of creating awareness about Human Rights (particularly Child Rights) and the Fundamental Duties as prescribed in the Constitution of India.
For this purpose, the JUMP2justice (J2J) and Preschool teams together organised these events to create awareness in an interactive and fun manner through discussion, dance, music, street play as well as exhibition of craft created by the Preschool children and their parents.
A houseful chain of events, the events also had dignitaries from the Municipal Corporation (Medical Officer, Dr. Jayendra Gawade and Assistant Medical Officer, Dr. Vishal Patil), Corporators (Smita Sawant, Ishwar Tayde), Malaria Inspector (Nityanand Patil) and also, a representative of our CSR partner CIPLA (Bessy Felix).
The feedback was extremely positive from all those present in the audience comprising of the community members, most of them being our beneficiaries and quite a few new faces and seeing such a huge crowd in attendance was a he boost to all tiny beneficiaries and their teachers as well!
We hope to continue such events for the development of these tiny children by way of such extra-curricular activities even in future with the support of kind and generous supporters you, our dear readers.
