Krushna – HOPE Champion of the Month

The HOPE project is a psycho-socio paediatric oncology project that aims to support the children (0-18 years of age) suffering from any type of cancer. With partnerships in place with two reputed hospitals of Mumbai, the HOPE projects primarily provides nutritional, educational and logistical support to the patients, while the partner hospitals support these children with the treatment procedure.

In addition to the material support to the children and their families, the project also provides mental support to them by way of different activities such as Birthday Celebrations, Diwali celebrations, Champion of the Month etc, with puppet shows, magic shows or just a fun get together, to ease out the mental stress that invariably ends up taking a toll on the mental health of not only these children but also their parents. And of these events, Champion of The Month is one that periodically felicitates that one beneficiary who has been regular with their treatment and checkups, as well as with their studies and other activities, with full confidence.

Krushna Yadav is a three year old boy suffering from Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis or HLH and has successfully undergone 10 chemo cycles at our partner hospital, Holy Spirit Hospital and to appreciate his bravery and positive attitude, he was awarded the Champion of the Month title this for this month.

With cake cutting and sharing of gifts on behalf of Mumbai Smiles as well as Holy Spirit Hospital, the event proved to be a morale booster for Krushna and his parents, which they expressed in their short address to the fellow beneficiaries, especially to our new beneficiaries.
