Mumbai Smiles Foundation organised J2J Awareness Sessions on Fundamental Human Rights with parents of preschool children

23rd September

Every Indian citizen is entitled to fundamental rights, and it’s our duty as citizens of this nation to explain those rights to those who aren’t aware. Mumbai Smiles Foundation’s Jump2Justice programme (J2J) conducted 27 awareness sessions on Fundamental Rights and Duties as Indian citizens for parents of our preschool students. The impact of the subject was so great that in all, 575 parents participated in these sessions.

Through these sessions, Mumbai Smiles Foundation aims to empower its beneficiaries and make them aware of Right to Equality, Right to Freedom of Speech & Expression, Right against Exploitation, Right to Freedom of Religion, Cultural and Educational Rights and Right to Constitutional Remedies. Most of all, we also want them to know the importance of Right to Identity.

During the sessions, the J2J team realised that most parents were unaware of fundamental rights, so we explained it using examples. We appealed to all participants to notify us about Human Rights Violation cases, so we can help them or other Human Rights violation victims to claim their rights and Jump to Justice.

Besides this, the J2J team also conducted 12 awareness sessions for preschool teachers and assistants. A total 56 teachers and assistants participated in the sessions.
We requested all teachers and assistants to inform us about Human Rights Violation cases, so we can help Human Rights violation victims to claim their rights and Jump to Justice.
