LSE Girls celebrate “Alert Week” with Mumbai Police

In Awareness, Events, Life Skills Empowerment, Mumbai Smiles, Thank You

Last month, the LSE or Life Skills Empowerment project had organised an exposure visit for the beneficiaries of this project to the nearest police station. This helped the girls understand how the police body is here to help us, the citizens of this country and also what are OUR responsibilities as citizens in order to help police maintain law and order in Mumbai.

At the end of the exposure visit, the senior inspector at the Police Station, Mr. Avinash Dharmadhikari appreciated the work of Mumbai Smiles and the enthusiasm of the girls. A few days later, he invited us, specifically the LSE girls to participate in some fun competitions like drawing, essay writing, elocution etc, on the theme of “Corruption” to celebrate the Alert Week (Satarkta-Jagrukta Saptah).

At this competition, a total of 14 girls from the LSE project participated in the different competitions against almost 200 participants from other municipal schools in the vicinity and of these. At the end of the competition, 6 LSE girls bagged prizes as well:

Essay Writing Competition

  1. Isha Palsumkar (2nd prize in 5th-7th category)
  2. Sarita Ghongale (2nd prize in 8th-10th category)

Drawing Competition (8th-10th std. category)

  1. Shraddha Fad (1st prize)
  2. Amita Nikalje (2nd prize)
  3. Supriya Gavnag (complimentary prize)

We are very, very proud of our girls! It only goes on to prove our belief that talent does not discriminate among humans on socio-economic factors!
