Balwadi kids mainstreamed to regular Schools

Presently summer vacations are on for Balwadi kids and it will reopen in 1^st week of June. A total of 675 kids were enrolled for the year 2012-2013. Further we categorize these kids into small group and big group which are done on the basis of age category they fall into. For the small group it is below 3.5 years of age and for big group it’s between 3.6 to 6 years of age. For the year 2012-2013; 371 were in the big group and 304 in the small group. It was a great achievement for Mumbai Smiles that all the kids who were in the big group i.e. 371 got admission in government and non government schools at Junior KG, Senior KG and 1^st standard level. Rest 307 kids from the smaller category will continue in our Balwadis as for some the age is not appropriate for getting admission in schools and in few cases kids require more mentoring at our Balwadis before their mainstreaming into regular schools.
