And a Dream Came True….

 In Mumbai Smiles

When you read someone’s achievement stories you often have the eagerness to meet that person and to hear all about his journey and understand his perspective.

After reading General Director, Jaume Sanllorente’s books, “Sonrisas de Bombay” and “El Poder de Las Sonrisas”, Javier and Alicia could not resist from visiting the Mumbai Smiles Foundation (A sister organization of Sonrisas de Bombay, Barcelona).

When they started planning their visit to India, the Mumbai Smiles Foundation was on the top in their list.

Finally, On 19th June Alicia and Javier visited us. IT was a day long visit which began with the introduction of all the team members.

Later, they spent some quality time with the preschool children in Powai slum area. Although it was the second day of preschools and the children were yet to settle in the new environment, many of them were happy to meet their new guests. The teachers were equally happy to receive Alicia and Javier and to answer their questions.

And Alicia was full of joy smiling and holding the tiny hands.

Before visiting the other projects they decided to have lunch with the team.

Having enjoyed tasty local food prepared by the group of ladies from the slum community they visited another group of ladies who were engaged in making beautiful artificial roses for Sant Jordi festival. Alicia admired these ladies for their beautiful smiling faces in spite of hardships  these ladies were facing in their life.

Here is what Alicia wants to say:

Alicia says, “Since we have been known the existence of Sonrisas de Bombay we wanted to visit personally to see their work in India. Finally the day arrived and we are in Mumbai Smiles (the sister organization of Sonrisas de Bombay, Barcelona).

We are happy to know them and we wish that we would visit here again and could spend more time. One has to value the work of these people doing for the betterment of the world. Thank you very much for this wonderful experience.”

Javier added to this saying that this part of India has already made a special place in their hearts.
