An Effort to Render Relief from Cataract

In Eye & Health Care, Mumbai Smiles

On the 8th of October, Mumbai Smiles provided both; free of cost spectacles and cataract surgery for those diagnosed with cataract post their eye-check up. A  Diabetic Retinopathy and Eye check up camp was organised in collaboration with Aditya Jyot Foundation for underprivileged community in our project area; Marol Gaon.

Cataract is a common problem amongst the senior citizens. Since they are already suffering with economic backlash and age overtakes their desire to live; such issues are generally ignored and we do our best to help them lead a better life.

5 cataract surgeries were done at Doctor Eye Institute, Andheri (W) for Gangubai Kokane, Bhima Hate, Sabira Sheikh, Jayashree Kadam, and Shalini Kamble. These women were thankful to Mumbai Smiles and we were delighted to have helped one in need.

Mr.Jitesh Rambhia, Business Development Manager, Doctor Eye Institute coordinated the investigation to perform cataract surgery with the Eye & Health Care Project team and Suresh Harke (FCO, Balwadi and Eye Project) helped and took the patients for surgery at Doctor Eye Institute.
