The idea of dedicating a special day to all the Teachers of the world took root in the early 20th Century. For this, different countries celebrate the birthdays of their local scholars on this occasion and India celebrates the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, a distinct Indian scholar in the field of comparative religion and philosophy and also the second President of Independent India.
While we all talk about the leaders of the world in various fields, be in an astronaut, an engineer, a doctor, a politician, a journalist, we forget that the contribution made by these leaders and game-changers, is in turn pouring out of all the hard work put in by the teachers who moulded them into what they become post completion of their education!
At Mumbai Smiles, the Balwadi Project understands the important role a teacher plays in any individual’s life. And since our project focus on the children belonging to the underprivileged section of the society, it ensures that the teachers also come from the same background, so as to ensure safety and comfort of all the little tiny tots. And this year, on the occasion of Teachers Day, the executing team of the Balwadi Project, including the Program Officer, Mr. Vikas Gaikwad and Field Coordinators, Mr. Suresh Harke, Ms. Chandrakala Bhangare, Ms. Smita Shivtarkar and Mr. Mahendra Zende felicitated all the 30 Teachers and Assistant teachers of our 30 Balwadis to appreciate and encourage their contribution to our society and to Mumbai, and as a token of gift to thank them.
Sonali Khaire, Teacher from Balwadi No. 19 expressed her joy on this occasion by saying, “I feel so proud to be a Teacher. With all the parents, students and the community members wishing us all today, it feels so happy and joyful… A never before experience which I will never forget in my life!”
Well, a HUGE shout-out to all the Teachers of the world and a BIG THANK YOU for making us all who we are! HAPPY TEACHER’S DAY!!!
