73 screened for Malaria in Bhandup area

In Awareness, Health, Infectious Diseases, Mumbai Smiles

The Infectious Diseases team recently organised a special Malaria screening camp in the Sahyadri Nagar area of Bhandup. The total turnout in this camp was 73 people, including 59 female and 14 male citizens.

The camp was meant to check these patients specifically for Malaria as the rains this year have stretched to more than the usual Monsoon months and hence the chances of spread of this disease has continued till now. So for this special camp, we had complete support of Dr. Alvina Patil (Assistant Medical Officer, Mumbai Municipal Corporation) and her team of 2 specialists for Malaria testing and other nurses and staff members.

Along with Malaria testing, the doctors also provide individual health and nutrition counseling, by way of checking their blood pressure, temperature, weight and also discussing about important daily nutrition.

The citizens appreciated the organization of the camp and expressed how it is much needed since they cannot afford regular checkups. We are happy we were able to organize this free health camp for our fellow citizens and we wish to thank all the doctors and the Mumbai Municipal Corporation for helping us with the same!
