A Bachat Gat is an SHG or a Self-Help Group which is formed by 10-20 women living in the same or nearby underprivileged communities to collectively take on income generating activities. Mumbai Smiles has also partnered with a few Bachat Gats for our various projects, such as the Balwadi Project and the Life Skills Education. Under this partnership, the women from the various SHGs help us provide nutritious food to the beneficiaries of our project.
Recently, the Balwadi Project held its Annual SHG meet for an interactive session with representatives of 15 SHGs associated with Mumbai Smiles.
The objective was to refresh the project guidelines, objectives, roles and responsibilities related to the supplementary nutrition provided by these women as also to felicitate the three SHGs who have performed exceptionally well for the community in the previous year.
A meeting is successful when it full of interaction and smiling faces and judging on those criteria, we had a super successful meet with SHGs!
