26 Spectacles Distributed for Balaji Residents

Last month, there was a free eye-check up camp conducted in the underprivileged area called Balaji, near Andheri East area. Of all the citizens of the area, 26 were identified with refractive errors in their eyes that can be corrected with just the use of correct and prescribed spectacles and so we ensured that these spectacles were distributed to each of these 26 citizens in need, free of cost.

It is crucial to understand that in such lesser privileged areas, also known as slums, which have limited access to healthcare facilities, adding to the issues of economic stress, it isn’t always an option to simply buy a pair of spectacles, that too with prescription power-glasses in them. This is where our eye camps and the follow-ups for the correct treatment become a mode to ease the stress of financial as well as health related stress. And so, with the objective to prevent visual impairment as well as reduce the economic stress among the underprivileged citizens of various age groups, the Community Health project ensures that the healthcare facilities are reaching areas which need immediate attention towards regular health check-ups, especially eye care and dental care.

The 26 spectacles were distributed within 2 weeks of the camp and it was received very well from all the citizens. We have to mention here that this has been made possible only because of our donors and supporters, not only from India and Spain but across the world and also because of our partner healthcare institutes, without whose support none of our work would have been possible.
