250 beneficiaries receive Free Medical Checkup

In Awareness, Health, Infectious Diseases, Mumbai Smiles

Infectious Diseases project is one that conducts free health checkups in the various project areas in Andheri and neighbouring sections of Mumbai, covering a list of five gravely severe diseases like HIV, TB, Dengue, Malaria and Leprosy for our community beneficiaries. These checkups are done by teams of professional doctors and citizens detected with the infections of the mentioned diseases are then treated for the same for free as well.

The objective of such camps is to improve community health through community intervention and medical support, for which the Infectious Diseases Project team prepares the camp with the help of local leaders and doctors, the promotion for the camp happens well in advance and the camps are done only on weekends so all those who work can also benefit from these free camps!

One such camp recently screened 250 beneficiaries at Suryanagar area in Vikroli (northern Mumbai). Dr. Jayendra Gawade, Dr. Shamal Goregovkar and Dr. Deven Rathod attended to all the beneficiaries starting with the basic checkup of blood pressure and pulse and moving on to check for infections. Along with the checkups, the children were also vaccinated against malaria, polio and other diseases.

Such camps help us not only with early detection of these near fatal and fatal diseases but also create awareness among the community members for precaution and thereby lead a healthier life.
