In Awareness, Events, Health, Infectious Diseases, Mumbai Smiles, Thank You

The Infectious Diseases team recently conducted a free Malaria-screening health camp, free for the citizens of a slum community in Tagore Nagar in Vikroli. This is the first camp in this area from Mumbai Smiles Foundation and the response was extremely positive with a total of 192 citizens coming forward to get themselves tested.

The health camp included general health check-up, including blood test, height, weight and blood pressure and specific testing for malaria for each of the beneficiaries, which included blood testing and also asking the citizens for presence of any of the symptoms, such as recurring fever, shivering, sweating with fever, body ache, loss of appetite, etc.

Post the testing, the doctors also provided personal nutritional counseling to each of the 76 male and 118 female citizens (including children and adults) to ensure increased immunity. For those with basic general flu or other minor ailments, immediate medication was also provided free of cost with instructions of appropriate diet.

Special thanks to the team of doctors, including Dr. Minal, Dr. Kalpana and Dr. Deven and their team of 22 nurses and specialists for helping us conduct the health camp and for checking the patients. The collected samples of blood are underway processing and those found with ailments, shall be given free treatment for the same as well.
